3rd Trimester is ALMOST here!

It's almost time for the 3rd trimester! I'm 26 1/2 weeks, so I have a week and a half to go. I'm definitely ready to get to that mark, because then Sophia will almost be here! According to all of the books, she's over 9 inches long and weighs 2 lbs. She's about the size of a pineapple or eggplant. She's definitely been kicking a lot, and I'm not tired of it yet! I've been having trouble sleeping and it's definitely getting harder to sit and stand! We just got done painting her room and it looks great...just a few more details and we'll be finished. I'm really excited to start putting in furniture because then it will really start to look like her room.

My mom and sister gave me a baby shower on April 10th and it was beautiful! They really put in a lot of hard work and I appreciated it so much. It was great to see friends and family that I don't always get to see. We received so many great gifts and felt very loved. Sophia is going to be one spoiled baby, both with gifts and love. It's so great to walk into her closet and see all of the fun things she'll get to wear and play with! Mike and I are also looking forward to his family shower in Cinci! It will be great to see all of his family and celebrate with them. I'll post pictures and keep everyone updated!

23 Weeks!

Things are finally starting to feel real! This past week, I have been extremely sick, and it has irritated Sophia! She has been moving so much, and I can actually SEE her moving. That's definitely one of the coolest things so far, is being able to see her move by looking at my belly:) We have our next appointment on Monday, so we'll keep everyone updated on how everything is coming along!

Week 21!!

WEEK 21
Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid each day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experiences through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to be eating as you pack your lunch!

Things are going great in the Guerity home:) Mike's business is really picking up, and it should, because he works so hard to build his racing and his business! I've started to get a little stressed out because there are still so many things that I don't know about how to raise a baby, so I'm reading up as much as possible! I'm also already dreading going back to work after Sophia is born, I already know it's going to be really hard. Sophia has definitely been making herself be known! She kicks every now and then, and she's been getting hiccups a lot! Mike is still trying so hard to feel her on the outside...but it's still a little too early. I can't wait for him to feel her move like I do!!

Sophia Grace Guerity

It's a girl!! Mike and I were very excited to find out that we are having a baby girl! Over the last month, I've had the feeling that we were having a girl because I couldn't stop calling her a "she", so I guess I was right! She's definitely grown a lot since we last saw her, and it's amazing how fast she grows each day!

We had a scary moment after the ultrasound when our Dr. told us that they spotted 2 CPC's (Choroid Plexus Cyst) around her brain. She told us that these can be indicators for Triosomy 18 and 21 which are severe chromosomal disorders. She had told us that this is common and usually disappear, but that's still a very scary thing to hear! She mentioned that we go see a Fetal Genetics Specialist so we made the appointment that day!

I was a wreck and very upset because we went from being ecstatic to hear that we were having a girl, to finding out that she may have serious problems. We ended up going to the specialist. They did a more detailed ultrasound and checked for any abnormalities in her heart, hands, feet, lungs, etc. and she was absolutely perfect in every way! They also looked at the blood work screening that we'd chosen to do during the 1st trimester, and they assured us that our girl would be fine. These things are very common, and show up all the time...they usually disappear by the 26th week ultrasound. I don't think I have ever felt so relieved!

So after a very emotional day, Mike and I talked a lot about what we wanted to name our girl and we have decided to name her Sophia Grace Guerity! It's definitely nice to put a name now to the little kicks I'm feeling!

Week 18

YOUR BABY WEEK 18:
Your baby has become amazingly mobile, (atleast compared to you), passing the time yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking, and swallowing. And baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon!

Your Baby: Week 17
Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

I'm 17+ weeks along and feeling great! I'm feeling really anxious about finding out the sex of the baby in 2 weeks! I don't know if Mike and I can wait until then! We've picked out some names, so once we find out what we're having we'll share it with you! So far, I've been feeling great, I'm starting to get energy back..but hate working out! I definitely need to be doing that more often, both for me and the baby. My bump is definitely showing and I can't wait for it to get bigger! It's definitely time to buy some maternity clothes!

Week 15

Your Baby: Week 15
Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements.

Ouch!

Well, today I got to experience my first episode of rounding ligament pain! I was at work and I started to get a stabbing pain in my lower right abdomen. It was pretty painful, so I was concerned! I didn't immediately think it was the baby because of where it was, but I of course didn't want to take any chances. My wonderful father-in-law was able to pick me up since Mike was on-air and take me to my ob-gyn to check on things. Mike met me there when he was finished and we got the great news that there was nothing wrong with the baby, and that it wasn't appendicitis! It was nice to see the baby again too! He/she is doing great, we counted fingers and toes and the Dr. said it even waved at us to say that it was doing just fine:) Mike still tried to get the Dr. to find out the sex...and once again he was let down! I obviously married my soul mate because we both can't stand waiting for ANYTHING! The Dr. said to stay off of my feet for the rest of the day and take some Tylenol for the pain. I felt a little silly because I know that ligament pain is a common thing in pregnancy, but it really hurts!! Mine started at 10:30 this morning and at 8:30pm it's still there...so I'm hoping that it will start to get better! But when I think about why it's hurting and I realize that it's just making room for our baby, I'm happy that it's there. I want the baby to be comfy with plenty of room! I hope to get our pics from last weeks appointment scanned so I'll have those on here soon!

Baby Guerity

Hello Everyone! We wanted to start a blog for all of our family and friends who live around the country so that you can stay updated on Baby Guerity's growth! So far, I am 14 weeks along and just starting my 2nd trimester. Mike and I have been waiting to get to this point so that we could relax a little bit!

We had an appointment today and it was amazing. First we got to hear the heartbeat and it was right at 155bpm which the doctor said was perfect. Then we went in to have an ultra sound so they could check the measurements of the baby. Wow, did it grow! I was able to see fingers, toes, the brain, and even it's nose! The baby was moving around a lot, but the ultrasound tech said that he/she was very cooperative. Plus...our baby is kind of a big deal...it was doing so well that the tech asked if she could take extra pictures to use in a few months to renew her ultrasound license! She could have taken pictures all day because I just couldn't take my eyes off of the screen, and neither could Mike.

Our BIG appointment is Feb. 26 and that's when we'll find out the sex of the baby. We can't WAIT! I'll post some pictures up here soon.
